Hey hey! Just got back from a weekend in Melbourne. It was such a blast! It was very rushed though. I barely had time to do everything I wanted to. But it was still fun! Ate like an absolute pig at this place called Bismi, they sell like nasi briyani, mee goreng, roti prata. that kind of stuff. and it was really good! Probably the closest to the food in Singapore I've had since I got here! Ate till I couldnt walk, then ate some more!! I really couldnt breathe by the time we were all done. hahahah.. yeah I can just imagine all of you shaking your heads, thinking how hopeless I am. Well you try going without your mee goreng or chicken rice for 2 months!! And live on your own cooking too!!
Oh before I forget, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADEL!! I was in Melb on your birthday, so couldnt sms or anything, but one day late is not bad ok!
And Ting!! I LOVE YOU!! I got the postcard!! haha...you guys should follow her example and send me letters and postcards too!! It only costs ya'll sth like 50c right? Well it'll cost me A$1 to send a postcard! hehe, so ya'll should send me stuff. hehe.
JM! thank you for the Jet cd. IT ROCKS!
ugh..its raining like piss here. can you imagine? they are supposed to be having a drought dammit! whats this?! so while it isnt that cold despite the rain, it is really miserable. bleh. Its pretty windy too, and the flyscreen on my window, which was already kinda hanging off on one side is now threatening to take flight! (hehe.. fly, flyscreen..geddit geddit??)
Eh Uma and Suba, tell me if you are agreeable to my plan ok? We must set a date and stick to it! Although Uma I would like to discuss the issue with you further.
Ok I skipped school today, so I'm damn bored and just looking for things to talk about. Hmm...
OHMYGOSH!! The scariest thing happened in Melbourne! I bet all of you are going to wonder what the hell Australia has done to me! We were walking out of Vic Market (me, my mom and my two cousins) and we walked into a Levi's factory outlet store. And they were selling Levi's denim skirts for 20 bucks. And would you believe I didnt even have to think, I just decided that I wanted it! ME?!! The girl who simply does NOT wear skirts! It was freaky. So anyway now I have a Levi's denim skirt. At least its a Levi's, save my cred a bit. heh.
Oh Sangeetha, as you can see, I tried to do what you did as well, but I dont think i did it very well. Think it might be a tad too obvious. I shall try again in my next post.

You want the good news or the bad?
Hey I just found out I might not be able to come in to Singapore on the 8th afterall. Simply because I wont be able to get out of school on that day. How screwed up is that? Sorry JM! I really want to see you before you go. But looks like it may not happen. Hopefully we will be able to coordinate trips to Singapore, but being in opposite hemispheres, I'm not sure if it'll happen too often.
On a more positive note, I'm going to Melbourne tomorrow! Its only for the weekend and all, but still! Its Melbourne!!
More good news, I got distinctions in my last two assignments! Both in International Law too. I was shocked. Am really happy right now, as you can imagine. And since its a thursday night, I am absolutely dying to go out and PARTAY!! But the first draft of my research essay is due tomorrow, so I'm not going anywhere.
sigh

Amused?
Ok so I'm glad my blog amuses you guys. Haha. Thats what I live for right?
Anyway, me and Sangeetha were having a bit of an odd discussion this evening over our midnight snack (hehehe). We were talking about how a persons hair makes a great difference in they're appearance. And it somehow lead to her asking me what I looked out for or noticed first in a guy. So I thought for a moment, and said I notice the way they wear their pants. I then proceeded to rate all the guys we knew in B&G by the way they wear their pants. It was rather amusing. So what do you look out for? Tell me, tell me. Oh yeah in case you were wondering, I like low and baggy pants a la Justin Timberlake and Usher.
Hey Ting, I'm checking my mail slot everyday! Cant wait!
So many deadlines, so little time! Well more importantly, SO LAZY!! ugh.
I watched Fahrenheit 9/11 today. It was amusing to say the least. While it does raise questions about the Bush administration and all the things its done, I cant help but feel Mike Moore was a little exaggerated in his portrayal of some things. And of course he is trying to convince and persuade his audience to think and feel certain things, so hello emotive words! But yes, it was thought provoking. On the other hand, I already didnt have the highest opinion of dubya, so it didnt really change much.
Ok back to work. sigh

Blogging for the sake of it...
There really isnt much to say. I cant believe my life is that uneventful. Or perhaps its more like I dont think any of you want to hear about my culinary catastrophies or my tutor dodging techniques. Just went back to school today after a full week of bliss. Bliss meaning waking up after noon mind you. I have a number of major essays with deadlines looming, yet I cant bring myself to begin on them. I know this path, I've been on it before. And each time I manage to survive, but I swear I'll never make the same mistake again. Well I'm sure you all know I'm particularly good at swearing! Maybe thats why it doesnt work?! God, even my sense of humour is going down the toilet.
Maybe I shall take a risk and tell you about my guy problems. There is, of course, the fear that the people in question will find my blog and read it. That prospect is rather horrifying because, even if I dont use their names, they'll know who I'm talking about. And I must add that there is a great deal of irony involved in this situation. For the many years that I have been listening to and occasionally advised uma and suba on their relationship, I thought I would be able to handle anything thrown my way. Of course nothing ever came my way, so I went on believing in my own invincibility. Come on, lets face it. Combined, Uma and Suba have dated examples of every category of male freaks. So I learned from their experience. Now, of course, when someone does come my way, he totally breaks the mould! And not in a good way! He's still a freak, but unlike any other that Uma and Suba have known. And trying to deal with him is tiring and distressing. And the others? Simply too disturbing to discuss. See? I couldnt even bring myself to telling you all the things that have happened. Suffice to say, I will NEVER date these guys. The sooner they realise that, the better. And it's not because they dont "meet my high standards", I'm not really like that. But simply becuase I have nothing in common with them, and that we are so fundamentally different! All the things I hold dear to me and consider integral aspects of my identity must be matched by the people I am with. And that is obvious when you look at the people who are my close friends. But I just dont know how to make it clear to these guys AND keep their friendship at the same time! They make pretty good friends, they are fun to be with. But that is the entire extent of the relationship I want to have with them. And of course I think its only fair that I consider Sangeetha as well. Its not very comfortable for her to maintain a friendship with these guys, if I was, for example, not on speaking terms with them. Its simply too much trouble. I have many times contemplated taking my own advice and being the proverbial 'cold, hard bitch' about the whole thing and simply telling the bastards to fuck off. ugh..
I just thought I'd credit Sangeetha on the creativity of the title of her last post. I tried to do the same, but my brain is simply not cooperating. Maybe when I'm not so bogged down by, well, everything!
JM, our meeting in the airport will be a very hindi movie style affair. Its strange, but I suppose it cannot be helped. Not unless I skip a day of school and come back on the 7th of Oct. Worth considering I suppose, but I think my mom has already booked my ticket. Well I will look into it!

Boredom and Good Music..
I am so bored. And I have so much work it's insane. Thankfully I've got a weeklong break. But still!! Foundation is supposed to be easy! Did not go out this week, sangeetha had a lot of work to do. Which is a shame because I really do want to go out! But when I think about it, it's actually pretty boring isn't it? I mean you go to a club and do the same damn thing right? But I guess after a few drinks everything is a little more bright and shiny. Maybe we just need to go to different places. But we cant afford it dammit! And we need to make friends who will want to take us clubbing, cuz somehow neither of us want to go alone. hmm...oh geez how sad is that!
By the way Suba, I'm still jealous! And you of all people, who cant take advantage of the situation, gets that kind of an opportunity! Urgh! What a bleedin' waste. Anyway, wish you guys could come and visit! I'll be coming back in October by the way. Not sure if I've already mentioned it, but it'll be my dad's 50th, so I'm coming back. I know you've all missed me!
I watched a hindi movie the other day, believe it or not. I can imagine most of you would have fallen off your chairs at the very thought, but yes, it happened! I watched 'Hum Tum'. It was ok as hindi movies go. Very cliched and all but still enjoyable I guess. I'm too cynical to believe in these things anyway. So I bet you're probably asking, what on earth possessed her to watch a hindi movie? Well its all cuz of Kaveen! He's this guy from Mauritius. Me and Sangeetha were over at his place for dinner and a movie. Yeah weird much. Just don't get the wrong idea, it's NOT like that!
Have I told you guys that I'm in love with Pete Murray? Yeah he's this aussie singer and I love him! If you can, download 'So Beautiful'. Its such a chill out song. And you guys remember how I was so worried that I'd get really backdated music-wise? Well they are really slow when it comes to music, but they've got some great aussie singers and bands that we'd probably never hear of in Singapore. So I guess that kinda makes up for it. In case you're wondering, Counting Crow's 'Accidentally In Love' is new here. Scary huh? hahahah! Yeah but if you want to know about those aussie bands just ask me next time we talk ok?
JM you going in Sept right? So I'll miss you when I come back to Singapore? Ah sucks.

You WILL die laughing....
Ok so me and my equally sad buddy Sangeetha just figured out something that's both terrifying and hilarious at the same time. The big news is that me and Sangeetha are RELATED!! Alright it is extremely distant, but still. So we figured it out and she is my aunt's mother-in-law's second cousin's daughter. How odd is that? We've also come to the conclusion that this world is too bloody small for our own good.
In other news, yesterday my hall (B&G! the best bloody hall inANU the world!!)held its mid year ball. It was, in a way, a fancy dress ball and the theme was sex, drugs and rock 'n roll. Have I told you how much I love australia? Anyway, the ball itself was a bit of a disappointment. I must just add at this point that I had had no intention whatsoever of going for this in the first place. But I went because there was the possibility of fun and because Sangeetha wanted me to. (The things I do for my friends!) It was the after party that was, well interesting to say the least. For those who dont already know, in order to dress to the theme, me and Sangeetha had pulled out the sluttiest numbers we could find. And yes, I even had red fishnet stockings and a mini skirt on. Unbelievable? It happened. But I digress. At the club, Sangee and I were on the dancefloor doing our usual circus act and over the course of the evening, not one, not even two but three guys tried to get friendly. It was traumatising. We have both been scarred for life. And I blame the red stockings. They are evil. Ok pick yourself up off the floor, it's not that funny. The image of turqouise bicycle shorts will eternally haunt me. If you don't know what I mean, then you aren't meant to, I'm sorry. Some things are too embarassing to be publicly discussed. But just to be clear, I was NOT wearing the turqouise bike tights, nor did I voluntarily have any association with it. Hopefully Sangeetha will post the pics we took that night on her blog, if not I'll try to do it. As most of you probably know, I look absolutely hideous in photographs. And if you just thought, "whats the difference with real life?" you have been cursed. ok? So I look pretty bad in those pics, and there isn't even a full length picture so that all of you can see the evil red stockings. Oh well, they might just be burnt, so say goodbye!

OK, so I know I've been horrible with the posting here, but I don't post because nothing new has been happening with me. The sky hasn't fallen, money is not growing on trees, and according to rumours I may not even be able to catch Those Five perform live this year...so yeah, no big news with regards to my life.
Saturday was the pre-departure session for all the UK people, and it was pretty boring. But since I went there to network and gossip, I did manage to achieve those two pathetic goals. Met this girl, Aileen, from HC that's also doing York Lit, so yay, another friend made. Saw a whole bunch of people there, and a lot of them were at the Oxbridge tables.
Sec 4 class update: Wenqi's doing PPE in Oxford, Tien2's doing Econs in UCL, Yehui's doing engineering in UCL, Mandy and Geraldine are doing NUS Lit, Cheryl Ng and Vivienne are doing Mass Comm at NTU, Melissa's doing NUS Law, Regina and Liying NUS Maths...the list goes on. And I know too many people going to Oxford and London. I on the other hand, have to deal with country life in the middle of Ulusville, Yorkshire. OK, so it's not as ulu as I say it is, but still pretty ulu. I'm trying to remember why I chose York over London instead.
Fight Club!
