The Usher of The Black Rod

Ah the usher. He's this incredibly redundant guy in Australian Parliament. He carries the Black Rod. (whee!!) Well I guess thats still better than the Serjeant-at-Arms (Yes, thats how its spelt) who only gets a lousy Mace and kinda stands around with it. Poor sods.
This being the results of my Australian Politics classes.
Anyway, I seem to be the only one updating this blog (stares at JM). You ppl had better be reading it! I am really dying to tell everyone about my life at ANU College and B&G, but really, there is so much to tell. I could simply go on for days! Of course me being me, I would forget half the things that happened and only tell it long after the moment. There are so very many interesting people and 'interesting' people. Yeah, you know what I mean! Which is why I must urge you guys to come online and talk to me if you are at all interested in the insane (and occasionally pathetic) things that go on in my life. And for goodness' sake, when I sms you guys PLEASE REPLY! You can simply reply directly and it costs as much as a local sms.
Most of you are probably curious to know who my friends are over here (the replacements? hehehe). Well I will try my absolute best to post pictures of them as soon as I can. In the meantime, you will have to settle for pictures of this rather amusing little hole nick I found in the wall.

My Geek Factor!

You are 21% geek
OK, so maybe you ain't a geek. You do, at least, show a bit of interest in the world around you. Either that, or you have enough of a sense of humor to pick some of the sillier answers on the test. Regardless, you're probably a pretty nifty, well-rounded person who gets along fine with people and can chat with just about anyone without fear of looking stupid or foolish or overly concerned with minutiae. God, I hate you.

I'm writing this post at the request of JM, who insists we keep Nags and Jags alive (even though she isn't exactly contributing..hmm). Also for all of you who thought I might have lost my grip and fallen off, just to confirm I'm still here! (And hangin' on aight!)
It's now 2.30 in the morning in Canberra. It's also way too many degrees south of zero. Yes, all us sad souls are freezing our collective hineys off. On the upside, I really like it here. All the conveniences of big city livin' without the many problems that come with it. (You've all written the essays, you know what I'm talkin about!) For example, you'd be hard pressed to find a bum in Civic (Canberra's city centre) or vagrants, air and noise pollution is minimal and best of all people are FRIENDLY. I love it. There are those who complain the place is dead. Well these are people who consider clubbing as having a life. I beg to differ.
School is great. I've met so many people I would never ever have the priviledge of knowing had I stayed in the miserable well that is Singapore.
I also really like the ANU campus. It's a little like every British university campus you've ever seen on TV or in movies, but without the Brit stodginess. There's a very relaxed atmosphere even though it's painfully obvious that people are studying their arses off.
I'm also sorry to say that I'll probably only be able to update one blog, and it'll be this one I think. So Adel dear if you're reading this, please please feel free to make any changes on the bitchaholics blog. I will, from time to time, make 'guest appearances' on it. With your permission of course.
Also, I have added many people's handphone numbers to my ICQ sms list, so dont be surprised if I drop you an sms ok?
I vaguely remember someone request that I post my mailing address. Should the occassion arise that you would need to mail me something($$ is always welcome), this is my address:

Neela Viswanath
Burton And Garran Hall
Building 49
Daley Road ANU
Canberra  ACT 0200

I cannot stress the importance of you guys staying in touch with me. While I have made many friends here, they could not ever, in any way replace any one of you. I miss you all.

P.S. props to those who managed to get the "..lost my grip and fallen off.." joke. heh
