I was very intrigued by what I read in Adel's post. For those of you who might be reading this and have not read Adel's, basically it's that some people (girls?) tend to neglect their friends when they have a boyfriend. Spend all their time with him, do lots and lots of things for him and talk about him all the time. Then, should there be a fight or a breakup, they expect the friend(s) they've neglected all this while to be there to pick up the pieces. Unfair?? YES. Unexpected? Not really. I have to admit that reading this made me think back to when I was accused of neglecting friends and family in favour of spending time with the boy. Of course I did and still do deny it. It seems like people tend to be more forgiving if you're spending all your time working or studying or kayaking (??) but not if you're enjoying the beginnings/ the best time of a relationship. But being told quite bluntly to my face that I was being a friend/family abandoning bitch made me re-think the whole situation. Even if I didn't think I was spending less time than usual with friends/family, they may have felt like I was. So I guess my point here is that there's a need for people to be more sensitive of other's feelings and not be completely lost in their own world, and definitely don't get defensive! Also, when you think of friends as the one's who will still be there after the storm, it's supposed to make you value them, not take them for granted, which is how some people seem to be misinterpreting it. Hmm...
Ok, now my turn to whinge about how I want to travel!!! I really really need a holiday. Going to Singapore didnt count because spending any time with my parents doesnt count as anything near relaxation! One of my friends is going to Italy on monday on exchange. Sigh. I want to go to Italy too!! But no money. Sigh. Hopefully N and I can work sth out and go away in Feb next year. Hmm...doesnt need to be overseas. But somewhere with a nice beach and lots of sun. Aaahh...
There's really nothing else even remotely interesting going on in my life. My days revolve around working and going to uni. *yawn* and when I'm not doing that, I'm at home trying to take things as slowly as possible. Hahaha, I feel so old!!

Happy National Day!
Thank you Ting and Adel for commenting! I bet Adel is lustily singing along to cheesy National Day songs as we speak. hehe.
Ting! What are these man troubles that you seem to be having? My sister is having man troubles too. I have to say, I've never really had major issues with the opposite sex. I had simply resigned myself to the fact that I was going to be eternally overlooked. And then along came the one idiot on the planet who would change all that. But that's about it. Entirely black and white, none of those painful shades of grey that seem to plague all you pretty young things out there. On a bit of a tangent, I thought of a few other things to think of before taking the plunge to get married. If he thinks you're one of those people genetically "blessed" with no body hair even though you actually spend a small fortune and too many hours in a day involved in body hair removal, you are NOT ready to get married. :D
Slightly disconcerting news yesterday, the church down the road from my place burnt down. The school attached to it was undamaged thankfully. But apparently the fire took place at around 1am. I can't believe I heard nothing! Its less than 5 mins down a straight road and the fire trucks would have gone right by my house! I can't imagine how or why the fire started. Although apparently Howard and Rudd are having a debate organised by a Christian lobby group tonight. Perhaps an omen? I really dislike the idea of religion and politics mixing. I understand that religion is a large part of people's lives and so is politics, but that is no excuse for someone of a particular faith to expect their values to have a greater priority in a supposedly secular government. The fact that gay marriage is still against the law almost everywhere really irritates me. Not to offend anyone who believes in God, but why should your "invisible (imaginary?) friend" decide that two people who love each other should not have their genuine relationship be recognised by the state? And yet, it is entirely alright for people of the opposite sex who have known each other all of 15 mins and are drunk off their nut to be legally married. Does that seem wrong to anyone else? N and I were having a laugh the other day about conservative Christian groups in the US lobbying FOR the death penalty. What happened to "Thou shalt not kill"?? Was there a footnote that said "unless you really want to" that the rest of us were not privy to? hmm....I feel like I'm targeting Christians. This isn't intentional.
I think complete faith in God is not something I'll ever understand. Perhaps what I don't get is why when one person believes in a being that no one else can see, they are insane but when large numbers of people believe in this unseen being, its religion. I hope the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster really takes off. People need a less vengeful God to believe in. That said, I also understand that alot of people find strength in their belief in God. I suppose we all have to get that drive from somewhere and I think its great. I just don't like when they try and push their views on others. Ting? A perspective from the other side?? I have far too many thoughts on contemporary Christians and the Bible and they are all kinda jumbled around in my head. Not so much on other religions. Maybe because they are less in-your-face than Christian groups? Yes I have issues with the way some Muslims think also. Oh well. I've gotten far too carried away. I love everyone. And I'm really tired.

Alright people, come on! If you guys don't comment on here I really will ditch this blog! And if no one comments after this I'll know no one reads this damn thing. Hmm..
So its week 3 of uni and I'm tired. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to sustain this same level of enthusiasm and diligence in doing my assignments and readings in later weeks. How do people do it? Madness. Also, work is giving me lots of troubles. Too many jobs to choose from! Too many things to consider! What a headache. Why can't I just find ONE ideal job and stick with it?
Watched the Simpsons movie last night. Hmm, I have to admit to being disappointed. I found it it kinda draggy and didn't really like the Homer-Marge conflict. Perhaps it was to add depth to the two characters but it just didn't work for me. Although I must say that there's one moment where Marge is raging at Homer and what he says in response reminded me so much of sth N said once when I was yelling at him. sigh. Speaking of which, we had gigantic fight that resulted in deathly silence between the two of us for nearly two days. Thankfully that's over and we both learned a lot about each other from it. It's back to (scarily?) domestic bliss for the time being. Is it just me or are we being bombarded by people getting married/engaged on all sides? Sheesh! People! This is a lifetime of committment we're talking about here! You could at least stop to consider the implications!! Or am I the only one left who believes in marriage being a sacred bond between two people? Bah. It just irks me that people who have been together for less than a year/ are under 25 are getting married. I mean, what happens after the 'honeymoon' period is over and you realise that you simply cannot live with this person anymore, let alone once they start balding/putting on weight/get wrinkly? Basically, if your man thinks all your bras and panties match and you don't own anything that isnt lacy and sexy you are NOT ready to get married. If you think that he actually irons his clothes and doesnt love fart jokes, you're NOT ready to get married. Madness. That said, its a little scary that Centrelink (Aust govt welfare agency) and the Tax Office consider N and I to be a de facto couple in a marriage-like situation. Unfortunately, Immigration won't! Useless...they'll consider me married so they can tax me but not consider me married to give me PR. Bastards.
Ok I should stop ranting about that. In other news, I plan to make a massive carrot cake tonight. Woots! Its my friend Matt's birthday. I'll try and take pics but now that my camera phone is only 2 megapixels and not 3, the pics might not be so good.
